I am sole proprietor who ended up in a dispute with a former employer regarding non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. I had called several law firms (I hadn't needed a lawyer until this happened) and Justin Williams impressed me enough on the initial call to be who I chose to work with. He was able to provide me his honest thoughts about my situation and actually listened to my needs before diving into the cost & expectations of representation. That allowed me to feel comfortable in working with him. Update: Be careful! After being asked to give a good review here at the conclusion of my case, I was hit with a bill for the 'remaining balance' after I was told my retainer should not only cover the bill but, I might have a little left over. I had a few hundred left on my retainer and the only thing that was done was a form letter sent out to both parties via docu-sign and somehow that used the few hundred remaing AND cost over $600 more. The lawyer on my case text me and asked me to pay the bill and I told him 'sure, next week' thinking...OK, they went a little over, no problem but, boy was I surprised when I logged on and saw the bill!!! Then, because I did not pay this surprise bill, I was sent an email stating that they would close this case and they would not help in the future. Ok by me...I don't like dealing with shady practices and would never use DAVIS law again. So here is my honest review now...WARNING...Steer clear... it's good until they tack an additional $1000+ on for a form letter that took a paralegal all of 5 minutes to copy the right names into and send over via email. They will then want almost 3 times the highest hourly lawyers fee for that. Neither you nor anyone else believes the actual lawyer does this part but, you will still be charged for 3 times the actual lawyers hourly rate. Davis Law and it's billing practices after the fact are THE WORST!I'm hoping like me, people read reviews before signing up as I did. I did not realize they are ASKING for those reviews so I felt obligated to make sure that I corrected my previous review. Not only that, my case NOT completely resolved and now I have to have one of my other lawyers to actually resolve the case! When you have NO CHOICE but to hire a lawyer, you know it will be expensive but you should NOT have to just pay WHATEVER they want just to make sure you're ok as a business. Not all lawyers are this way. I went to David because I didn't want either of the other two law forms I use to handle this sensitive matter but what happened here is NOT how it usually is with other law firms... just those with shady billing practices. I actually find most to be horribly over priced but fair. Take my advice and just move on, it's not worth it. There are plenty of good lawyers out there that do not have this going on with horrendous billing practices. Good luck if you need a lawyer but this is not the right one unless you have more money than common sense.Original review: I used Davis Business Law for a dispute with my business partner. Justin was amazing. He kept in constant communication, verified every choice and helped us come to a quick and cost effective resolution.
